Rain Watching

Tuesday, May 29, 2018
We went though a couple super wet weeks in Houston. It was hard because the kiddos were stir crazy, but we tried to make some fun out of watching the rain and listening to the sounds.

Paige just kept asking to go outside, so I'm not sure she understood our activity.

Gotta create your own fun sometimes right!?!

Discovery Green

Monday, May 28, 2018
We had a Discovery Green Splash pad play day before Pop Pop took his flight to Ohio to start his new job. Paige was scared of the fountains at first, probably because they change heights and different ones pop up at different times. But, when big sister came over to help Paige all those scary things disappeared. So special to see Claire helping Paige.

My office building is by Discovery Green; it is neat showing the girls where Momma goes to work. As Claire says, "In the big white building!"

Science Fair

Tuesday, May 22, 2018
Who knew we'd be doing a science fair project with 4 year old Claire Avery?! We tried to keep it pretty simple, here's a description.

Concept: 3 soda bottles, 3 balloons, and 3 balloons each filled with different amounts of candy. Invert balloons on top of soda (liquid) bottle and let the Nerds (solid) fall into the carbonated beverage. Viola, the balloon with the most candies gets fill up the most with air (gas). the end.

Here's Claire "Posters"

Sounds like we just need to work on our presentation skills now!

Peace graduates!

Sunday, May 20, 2018
Peace graduated from college! This young lady has made quite a mark on me personally and now she's ready to go forth and do big things in this world. We are so proud of her!

For a quick look back at Peace's family many years ago: Peace and Family. Peace has overcome so many challenges and has become the first college graduate in her family.

It was so neat to see Peace and all her siblings, the youngest two (Bonair and Hope) I barely recognized!

Peace had a giant white bow on her cap.

Not sure if you can tell, but Claire latched onto Peace.

Bonair, Dad, Peace, Dorcas, Stella

Albuquerque is too far away. Claire has asked me every day since we were there when we'd be able to go back.

DNA Testing

Sunday, May 13, 2018
Have you heard about DNA ancestry testing? On a whim (actually on in-flight wifi), I decided that I "needed" to give it a try. First, you have to buy a DNA collection kit online. After reading some reviews I went with 23andMe. You basically take < 5 minutes to spit into a little collection tube and send it off to the lab. Two weeks later a whole bunch of reports are available; you can choose to only look at heritage/ancestry information or you can upgrade (for a fee of course) to do health screenings. After seeing both it very much depends on what you're interested in. Do I really need to know that people with a specific DNA marker that I have tend to drink more caffeine? Probably not, but it makes me feel a lot better when I need cup #3 after lunch. I found the ancestry pretty cool. You're able to get a breakdown of your ancestry composition. Let's just say I'm going to be pulling for Great Britain in the World Cup :)

Tea Party

Monday, May 07, 2018
Aunt D really knows how to throw a tea party, complete with real china cups and saucers! Paige really didn't think her plastic set compared to the real deal. But with all the spilling she wasn't making much of a case for a promotion. :)

Cousin Time

Sunday, May 06, 2018
We went to hill country to visit Ross's brother, Adam and family, at their new house near New Braunfels. It is beautiful! We had such a fun time hanging out and letting the four girls run wild :)

Presidents

Tuesday, May 01, 2018
While we were brushing teeth tonight Claire says, "Mom do you know who James Madison is?" and I ask her if that is someone new in her class. She says " No mom, he was a President"...

E: "Wait a minute baby... you know the presidents? Tell me!!"

C: "George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, An Adam..."

E: "That's so good, anyone else?"

C: "Broccoli Obama and Donald Trump"

OMG.

She's so close and so far at the same time!
