2 and a Half?

Tuesday, January 29, 2019
I just recently got an Outlook calendar reminder that I have a TWO and a HALF year old baby girl. The half-year milestones remind the mommy's like myself that these babies grow up rather quickly. So big and so talkative :)

I'm still going through the holiday pictures y'all! I guess the real question is, are all the Christmas decorations put away yet?

Shoot the Deer

Monday, January 21, 2019
Every Monday the girls do a "Weekend Update" video at school. It's always interesting to see what they remember about the weekend. Here's Paige's today:

hahaha. I'm sure this made Daddy so proud.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken

Sunday, January 20, 2019
We're talking chicken today. This recipe put the wind in my sails after a long weekend of "solo parenting" while Ross was at the ranch (doing very hard things I'm sure). The chicken is seasoned well and quite cheesy, but you feel like you've gotten away with something because there's also a ton of fresh spinach in there.  Hope you check it out!

Here's the recipe: Spinach Stuffed Chicken

Danielle's Birthday

Tuesday, January 15, 2019
We have a recently added family member, which also means we have a recently added birthday to celebrate. And it all starts with the cake right?

Every birthday needs some presents too right? And some helpers to assist? :)

Karbach Brewery

Monday, January 14, 2019
Karbach Brewery is a local gem, super close to our house. Despite being bought by Budweiser a few years ago, it's a fun place and the kids love the outdoor area. Good food & drink and happy kids? I'll take it!

High Tea

Sunday, January 13, 2019
Ross finds himself very much on planet Mars sometimes. Let me illustrate.

Enter little girl fascination with tea parties.

Who knows. But real water makes this play time activity last at least 30 minutes. Throw in some real snacks and I get an hour. Although baby doll did incur an injury as a result; she took some applesauce to the eyeball. And then baby's eye wouldn't open and close properly. Gigi and I had the baby head popped off and on the counter for some home "surgery", trying to provide cheaper care than sending baby doll off to the American Girl hospital.

Cheers!

The Lizard of Emerald City

Tuesday, January 08, 2019
Ross and I alternate who puts each girl to bed. When it's Daddy's night to put Claire to bed she wants to hear about Star Wars or Star Trek with the Klingons (I had to look that one up). Now she has started saying that she is "Claire from the starship enterprise" :)

Claire and I used to make up a story each bed time, but it's tiring and sometimes we just need a known formula. So I started telling her about the Wizard of Oz. Well last night she kept asking for the "Lizard of Oz" and the "Minions" with a completely straight face. She also wanted to know if the green mean witch had "sprinkles" (aka warts) on her nose and if she could see a picture.

Yes Claire, let's talk about the Wizard of Oz and those munchkins.

Cookies Part 2: So Much Frosting

Monday, January 07, 2019
And it gets messy. let's do a picture story.

1. Give each girl a sugar cookie and teach them how to spread frosting

2. Look to see how they are doing a realize P has made her cookie all crumbles in ~10 seconds

3. Utterly give up on the "frost the cookie" lesson

4. Scold baby, but she's so cute. Give baby a big ole scoop of frosting for her cookie crumbs.

Happy baby girl!

Cookies Part 1: The Dough

Sunday, January 06, 2019
Christmas isn't Christmas without baking cookies right? I kid, but for me it's just one of those things that makes things feel more merry and bright :)

Trying to do cookies with 2 cute blonde little girls was a whole new experience. I'm a bit of a baking perfectionist and I had to relax big time. The gin and tonic really helped. And the matching PJ's make everything better.

Stay tuned for more of the "Frosting Escapades" tomorrow!

Pizza a la Ross

Wednesday, January 02, 2019
We all really enjoy family pizza night. I would like to say I also contribute, but I don't really. I just eat a lot of delicious pizza, always with creative new toppings curtesy of the master Chef Huebel. I help with clean up duty?

And everything is better in Christmas Jammies :)

Just Hanging

Tuesday, January 01, 2019
Happy New Year! I feel so Rested and Relaxed after a mere 2 weeks off of work :) Hope you all enjoyed the holidays too! I don't know about you, but I was absolutely done with Christmas music by December 25th. There's just only so many songs and renditions of those songs that can be consumed... and I'm good till next December.

We had lots of quality family time, which was the highlight of our staycation.

Lazy mornings are the best. They would be even better if Paige Renae would sleep past 6:30 AM :)

I love this picture so much. Paige adores her "Da"

The full scene. Do you love it too?!

Roma had to have matching PJ's too. There's just something about dogs in sweaters.
