Chicken Satay

Tuesday, June 25, 2019
This Thai chicken satay is fresh on my mind because it's fresh in my belly! Brother came over for dinner and per the usual I forgot to take pictures. But, this blogger didn't:

You'll make this dish and kick your favorite Asian carry-out place to the curb, at least for one meal. This recipe makes a whole lot of the satay sauce so don't double it like we did. We also served it with white rice and grilled broccoli. Enjoy!

Airplanes

Monday, June 24, 2019
Ross's list of hobbies and interests is pretty long; airplanes might be at the top of this list. For as long as I've known Ross he's been obsessed with airplanes. He got his pilots license right after college. Let's just say if there was an airplane category on jeopardy, that James "record holder guy" wouldn't hold a chance next to Ross.

So when our neighbor invited Ross to take a trip in his plane,  there was only one answer. :)

I know this might surprise you, but you're not going to find a bunch of plane facts on the captions here. If you want those, you'll have to talk to Ross.

Paige Renae

My solstice baby turned three on Friday. Happy birthday Paige! We celebrated by going to see toy story 4, Paige’s first movie. She asked if it was over after the 20 minutes of previews :) Paige was thrilled she got a green big girl bike! Now to figure out this pedaling thing...

Street Corn Pasta

Wednesday, June 19, 2019
When I got home from work I turned the grill on, let it heat up, and then put my "training" to work grilling corn. I didn't even have to call Ross and ask him questions. Weird. I learned that corn takes way longer to grill than I thought it would. But grilled corn is the only way to go when making this Street Corn Pasta.

Please head over to this blog for the recipe and pictures:

When it starts pouring outside, cancelling your pool plans, Mom had better start improvising. Hence the tea party :)

Daddy

Monday, June 17, 2019
Happy Father's Day Ross Huebel! You are very special indeed. As I was writing this post a song kept coming to my mind. Here are the lyrics-

This Is Why I Need You
I have too many questions and places to go
There are too many options far too many unknowns
This is why I need you
Everyone talks now but no one is right
There are too many armies with no one to fight
This is why I need you
Cause you make the darkness less dark
You make the edges less sharp
You make the winter feel warmer
You make my weakness less weak
You make the bottom less deep
You make the waiting feel shorter
You make my crazy feel normal, every time
You are the who, love is the what and this is the why
There are too many problems and no one who cares
There are so many roads and they all need repairs
This is why I need you
There's not enough chocolate, there's too many chores
There are so many mountains that I haven't explored
This is why I need you
You keep the ship moving forward
You make it easy to try
You make my crazy feel normal, every time
You are the who, love is the what and this is the why

Ross you are the who, love is the what, and this is the why!

Haircuts

Sunday, June 16, 2019
Sickness kind of derailed the week. Here's how it went: Claire is sick, then two days later I'm sick, then two days after me Ross is sick. RUN Paige RUN! :)

We seem to get our haircut when Daddy is out of town and we're having "Girls weekend". This time we had an added perk- GIGI!

Claire got 4 inches cut off and Paige got 2 inches cut off. After all, every gal loves some fresh ends!

Working with Dad

Monday, June 10, 2019
Ross took the girls outside to do some "working", which was to include changing the oil on the new-to-us jet ski. I came outside to snap some pics and this is what I found...

The girls decided they needed to self-apply sunscreen. Hmmm, Daddy didn't even notice.

So next step was changing oil. Easy right?

Paige moved the funnel and the motor oil went all over her foot and the ground. Can you see that Claire's legs are all white from the sunscreen? :)

Just another Saturday!

Pre K Graduation

Sunday, June 09, 2019
y'all it's a thing. Pre-K graduation is a "thing" and you don't want to miss it as a mommy or daddy. I'm telling you, the future just flashes before your eyes when they're called up for their diploma. :) This school has been great for both our kiddos and I feel that Claire is ready for the next step! She will start Kinder this fall.

Cheers.

Best Friend, Seesters, Matching braids.

Teacher love. Miss Tamika (L) and Miss Tyra (R)

Buddies.

Swimming

Wednesday, June 05, 2019
Water safety and kiddos is no joke. Which is why all the Lakehouse nuggets must have on life jackets. that and the fact they can't swim yet.

Here's some more (hot and sunny) pics from our trip. Ice cold popsicle anyone? :)
