Bump at 37 Weeks

Thursday, February 27, 2014
At 37 weeks Sprout is running out of room in my belly. Baby is about 6.5 pounds this week and will gain ~0.5 lbs every week from here on out. Right around 37 weeks I was feeling done with being pregnant and ready to have this baby. My body aches, mainly my pelvic bones and my tail bone.  I miss sleeping at night oooh so much. I'm really looking forward to sleeping on my back again. The doctor told me about a heartburn medicine called ranitidine and it works like a dream. So thankful to have relief from that malady... Yes, I'll have pizza for lunch!

So looking forward to meeting this baby; my due date is 2 weeks from tomorrow!!

Dog Park, Minus Grey One

Wednesday, February 26, 2014
Roma has surgery on her other knee tomorrow (Wed). Then we will be on the road to recovery, which will take 2-3 months. Love her!!

In honor or Roma baby, here are some pictures from the dog park. Ross and I went last weekend (sans Roma) because it is a good place for a pregnant lady to walk during the winter!

Jolin's Birthday

Tuesday, February 25, 2014
My special buddy Jolin turned 30 last weekend!! I think she really celebrated in Hawaii a couple weeks ago, but she was missing a few key people :) So anyway, we celebrated with babies, sparkling juice,  pizza, and cake.

Ross was honing his baby skills with baby Elias.

Happy Birthday Jolin!

Nursery

Sunday, February 23, 2014
I'm 37.5 weeks pregnant and I am feeling ready to have this baby. I feel akin to a walking blueberry. My due date is March 13 and the doctor won't let me go beyond 10 days after before inducing labor, so we will be meeting Sprout sometime in the next month!

And so the waiting game begins...

Here are some pictures of the nursery:

See that good looking quilt on the back of the glider-- Mom aka Gigi made it for Sprout :)

Baby is going to dream of sheep.

Texas Wildlife, the inspiration poster for the whole room!

Bump at 36 Weeks

Thursday, February 20, 2014
At 36 weeks Sprout is too big to keep doing fruit and veggie comparisons!! Baby is about 6 pounds this week and 20 inches tall. It's definitely getting tougher on my body these days. Sleeping, breathing at night, bending over, getting up from sitting, and eating have all become more difficult. Sprout likes to have a dance party (or the hiccups) right about the time I'm going to bed.

Due on March 13, 3 weeks away!

Diaper Cake

Wednesday, February 19, 2014
Do you know what a diaper cake is? Diapers and other baby supplies are arranged to look like a tiered wedding cake. It's common to see them at baby showers because they have a dual purpose: decoration and a gift.

So in our Alaska circle of friends, Rachel Stone, is THE diaper cake extraordinaire. Making wedding cake shapes is too easy for her; Rachel makes dirt bike shaped cakes and...

Flower arrangements!

Rachel wasn't able to make my baby shower, but I got a special delivery afterwards. Thank you for all the goodies Rachel!!

Maui iPhone Round-Up

Tuesday, February 18, 2014
Here's some iphone shots from our recent trip to Maui:

No first class, but no one in the middle either. 6 hours let's do this!

Our condo balcony

The first of many "Opakapaka" dishes. We'd never had this white, flakey fish before, but really liked it!

Seafood pasta at Malo.

4 mile coastal trail trek.

Hawaiian Shaved Ice with ice cream at the bottom. We had wedding cake and raspberry flavored ice.

Obligatory beach selfie.

Cute bath salt packaging.

Acai bowl = Love.

Walking with the pregnant lady.

Local of our beachside couples massage, amazing!

Frozen bananas, covered in dark chocolate and macadamia nuts. One of our favorite Hawaiian treats!

Roma update

Monday, February 17, 2014
Roma had TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) on her right knee on Wednesday. It's a fairly involved surgery, in which the doctor removes the torn ligament, cuts the bone to create a new angle of the knee, then secures with a stainless steel plate and screws.

Here's Roma's Post-Op pics:

She's not really able to put much pressure on the back, right leg yet. But, as the swelling goes down I think she's start to use it more.

The first 2-4 days the swelling is the worst; it moves from the knee down to the ankle. There is also significant bruising from the operation.

Roma HATES the cone of shame, so we bought her an inflatable donut instead. Hopefully, this keeps her from licking/messing with her stitches.

Rear View: She doesn't like sleeping in this thing.

Overall, Roma has done superb. She doesn't like being in her crate when people come over or at night time, but it's important especially for the first 2 weeks to keep her confined with limited movement.

Roma's Surgery

Thursday, February 13, 2014
We got a call from the vet/surgeon today (Dr. Edwards) to say that Roma's surgery went well and he was really pleased with the results. Wheeeeeeew. He said Roma did well in the surgery and he found that the cruciate ligament in her right knee was badly torn. She is staying at the hospital overnight and we'll pick her up tomorrow. If Roma's recovery goes as planned, she will have the same surgery on her left knee in 2-3 weeks.

In honor of Miss Pestie, here are some pictures Ross snapped a couple weeks ago...

What's out of place in this picture??

If you said, there's a pregnant lady sitting on the floor and a puppy dog in a comfy chair, you'd be right!

Roma has special needs, what can I say? :)

Love that grey one!
