Gobble Gobble

I love LOVE holidays. nothing is better than no work, good food, AND family time. Tuesday night Britany and I went to see the 2nd installment of the Twilight vampire movie, New Moon. While it is not going to win any awards, it was definitely entertaining. I've read the books, which are quite sappy and poorly written, so I thought the movie was about on par with my expectations. Ross's buddy Brandon also came over for dinner on Tues. The boys didn't want to go with Brit and I to see the movie though... they stayed home for a beer/xbox night instead.

On Thanksgiving I ran in the inaugural Clear Lake Turkey Day 10K. It was a beautiful day and a great way to start the holiday. I think a turkey trot might become a Huebel tradition. The family all convened on the Huebel parents house ~ 12:30 and the eating began!

My contribution to the festivities was Dorie's All-in-One Holiday Bundt cake. It's a spiced pumpkin cake filled with apples, cranberries, and pecans topped with a maple syrup glaze. It was good, but I was not blown away. My expectations may have been too high...but I did have several people say they enjoyed it!!

Notre Dame Cathedral

Tuesday, November 26, 2013
We're working our way through the Paris pictures! Notre Dame Cathedral is truly a unique Gothic church, complete with flying buttresses and looming gargoyles around the exterior. The interior seemed much more traditional, with beautiful stained glass to let light in. The Cathedral is located on a island in the heart of Paris, surrounded by the Seine River. We had some of the best views while we enjoyed a hot chocolate and some French onion soup at a little cafe across the street.

Look at this door!

Look even closer, do you see the intricacy?

How many gargoyles do you see?

Merci!

Eiffel Tower

Monday, November 25, 2013
Ross and I took a double decker bus tour in Paris, to see the sights and get to know the city in a shorter time frame. We spent some extra time walking around the Eiffel Tower and the gardens. I think we were both more impressed with the Eiffel Tower (construction, size, beauty) than we expected we'd be. Especially impressive was the fact is was built in 1889!!

Happy Monday.

After staying in London a few days, we headed to Paris.

Our luxe hotel room-- with a nice discount thanks to Hotwire

Opera House

Check out this traffic pattern. There is none, it's basically a 6+ lane, round-about free for all.

Napolean's Are de Triomphe

Look at the incredible detail work, no wonder it took so long to complete.

Napoleon's burial place.

Will be more Paris pictures to come!

London Part 2

Wednesday, November 20, 2013
Here's some additional London pictures. We walked from Big Bend/Parliament area over to Buckingham palace.

Road leading up to the Palace.

Buckingham Palace. To quote Ross: "That's it???!"

After a couple days in London, we took a train to a small English village where Adam and Danielle and Madison live. It was so much fun to hang out with our little niece, Madison. She is definitely a "cutie paatootie"

Madison grabs her ear when she's sleepy.

Ross and I flew to London for a little European getaway a couple weeks ago. Long story, but we ended up being there at the same time Dad was there for a business trip, so we rendezvoused and did some sightseeing together.

Big Ben and Parliament Buildings

Westminister Abbey

Ross found birds in Hyde Park.

Big Birds.

More to come!

Bump at 21, 22, & 23 Weeks

Monday, November 18, 2013
The last couple weeks have certainly been tumultuous; I haven't been regularly posting bump pictures. Here's a look back at how sprout's been growing!

Week 21: Sprout is the size of a banana

Week 22: Sprout is the size of a summer squash

Week 23: Sprout is the size of an eggplant

Insomnia and heartburn have been my biggest complaints lately.
