Friday is a big day because I'm going to be another year older. It's a "slightly bigger deal kinda birthday" than say last year. Good 'ole 2014, the year of baby Claire AND my 30th birthday.

Since I'm in celebration mode, I'll be taking a week off from Blogging. Rest assured, I'll have lots of new material upon my return!

Claire's First Boyfriend

The Stone family came over for a dinner/play date.

There was only one time when Baby Elias tried to get too close and I had to split them up :)

Baby Elias is about 3 months older than Claire, so he was showing off his crawling moves. And now I also have a better idea of what I need to "babyproof" in my house. Thank you Elias.

Heavy Heart

Today I attended the funeral of a co-workers son, who sadly took his own life over the weekend. Hearing a mommy's heartfelt weeping is one of the saddest sounds I've ever heard. As a new mommy, I can better understand the unconditional love that a parent has for their children.  Please, please, please take this opportunity to tell your babies or loved ones how much they mean to you.

Sushi Night

Ross and I have been making sushi at home. It certainly took us long enough for us to jump onto the "homemade sushi" bandwagon!

Sushi is not for everyone, but recognize that it is an admired taste.  We like to use sushi grade tuna, but we also make sushi with smoked salmon. Cream cheese goes well with the smoked salmon, but other toppings include avocado, bell pepper, and cucumber.

The most time consuming part is making the white rice, which is NOT just your average run of the mill rice either.

Storytime with Gigi

Claire loves to read books and help turn the pages. Well, except at night, because then storytime makes her hungry and sleepy and she can't be bothered with turning pages...

Falafel... from Egypt!

I flew to Egypt after college graduation to visit Ross while he was on a temporary job there. The food was not overly memorable... with the exception of Falafel. Ahhhh-mazing. I had never had falafel before that trip, and served up in warm pita bread, it's hard to beat. I mean in falafel, chickpeas do things I didn't know possible.  Pan fried perfection.

Ross's current co-worker is Egyptian and on a recent trip home brought back falafel (made by her mom!) for us. All we had to do was defrost, form patties, and pan fry. I also made some homemade pita bread to go with 'em. Add some humms and instant meal.

6 Month Baby!

Claire just turned 6 months old. Why is it that I feel like college is around the corner? Oh my gosh, this age is so much fun. I want to bottle it up and never forget it.

I like to see how many times I can make Claire smile from across the room. The answer is A LOT because my cheeks were hurting afterwards.

Berry Cute

Claire might get a tad bit spoiled when Granna is around :)  There's lot's of new outfits, including this one that says "Berry Cute" on the front and across the bum it says "Sweet Cheeks"

Hiking with Boo

We had a glorious weather kinda weekend in Anchorage, so we hiked along Powerline and had a "picnic" lunch. I put picnic in quotes because we just ate a sandwich on the side of the trail, does that count as a picnic? And what's the difference between a walk and a flat hike? :)
