Iditarod Start 2014

Tuesday, March 04, 2014
One of the biggest events of the year in Alaska is the Iditarod. It's a challenging route that takes sled dog teams and mushers 1000+ miles from Anchorage to Nome (on the Bering Sea). There's ~70 teams competing, but only close to half will finish. It's a big deal in the local news for the next 2 weeks. Because the Alaska winter has been so mild this year, the route is expected to be much more treacherous (high water, no snow, sticks, mud, etc).
